Coffee - Coffee Making Tips

For anyone who loves coffee, we all strive to make that “perfect” cup. You know the cup of coffee I am referring to. The first sip of that steaming cup of perfect morning coffee makes you hear angels sing and harps play. It makes you proud to be a member of the Juan Valdez fan club.

Well you will be happy to know that it may not be as hard as you may think it is. There are a few simple tips and suggestions that will make your loved ones ask for you to make their coffee rather than a quick trip to the nearest coffeehouse before they come and visit you.

Please be advised that you must take your coffee drinking and preparing seriously, therefore if you choose not to heed my advice you will not end up with the best cup of coffee that money can buy. The choice is up to you.

You must use the best water available when preparing your coffee.
This is extremely important when wanting a quality cup of coffee. When you consider that coffee is made up of 99% water, you must use high quality water. If you choose to use regular tap water you must in fact be sure that it does not have any strange or weird tastes. Only a crisp, clean, pure taste will suffice. If your water is far from the crisp, clean side then I do suggest a water filtration device or at the least run your water awhile to aerate it a bit before use.

You must make sure that your coffee equipment is always spotlessly clean before each use.
If you do not clean your equipment after each use you will have sediment and oils that will be left in the bottom of the device. This sediment will grow stale as it continues to be exposed to the air. This will result in a bitter taste far off the road of the perfect cup of coffee that you are seeking.

Select the freshest, highest quality beans available.
Your best choice here would be purchasing your beans at a specialty coffee shop. We have all purchased either whole beans or ground beans at our local friendly grocery shop or supermarket. Problem here is we never know how long those beans have been in those barrels exposed to the air around them. Air can be an enemy to the roasted coffee bean so your best bet is to hit one of those coffee shops for the highest quality bean.

Always grind your beans right before use.
I do suggest purchasing an inexpensive coffee grinder for use in your home at this time. You will want to grind just the needed amount of beans to coincide with the amount of coffee you are attempting to make. This will guarantee the freshest, best tasting coffee that your taste buds have only been dreaming about. Remember to use hot but never boiling water when using a drip coffee maker. I am referring to the Neapolitan, Melitta or the French Press systems.

Remember to stir your coffee after making and before serving.
What this trick does is disperse the coffee evenly throughout the cup or pot making sure there is nothing settling at the bottom. This promises a consistent cup of coffee each and every time.

Coffee Tip #1 - Select the right coffee bean to suit your taste.

No matter what you tastes are, the right coffee bean is out there waiting for you. Take time selecting the right coffee bean because great coffee begins with the bean.

Coffee Tip #2 - The right coffee maker is needed to bring out the best in your coffee.

A cheap coffee maker will make terrible coffee no matter how good the beans. Invest in a coffee maker that will heat your water to near boiling for that perfect brew.

Coffee Tip #3 - Use filtered cold water.

I'm sure you probably heard this before but I will say it again. Many public utilities add chlorine or other agents to inhibit bacterial growth in the water. This can lead to bad tasting coffee. Use a good filter and you will get much better results.
